Swapping Is Magic

Okay. I will admit that swapping is dorky. It’s like my sister hanging out in scrapbook forums when she rarely even actually scrapbooks. (It’s called Two Peas in a Pod or something.) Anyway, I’m just saying that I know it’s dorky and I gain pretty much no cool blogger points for running two swap groups on Flickr.

However, sometimes when a box arrives in the mail just for me wrapped with sparkly tape and heavily decorated I don’t give a damn. Swapping rocks my world. (Also as a note to self I HAVE to get better about wrapping my swap items up pretty. The ones I get make me embarrassed to remember how I wrapped my own. For next time I suppose.)

In any case my last swap partner was Bethany Actually and it would have not been possible for her to get my personality more perfectly.

My Green Swap From BethanyActually

People I am certainly not bragging, but holy crap. Seriously. Seriously?

Here is what my fabulous box contained:

1. A pictured drawn by Annalie. Don’t for a second think I didn’t instantly spot the pink bunny and cupcake stickers she included. Awesome!

2. Crocheted (by Bethany) arm/hand warmers. At my hideous office job they insist on cranking the AC until I am a sad little icicle of a receptionist. These will very much come in hand to keep me warm and still allow me to Twitter. Thank goodness.

3. Two Leaves and A Bud Tamayokucha Extremely Green Tea. This is SO delicious. I drink my tea plain with no milk or sugar and this is perfectly light with no bitterness. I am going to have to restock this when I run out. (Which will be soon as a hot cup of green tea has become my new night routine since I got this.)

4. World Market chocolate bars. One in Pomegranate Dark Chocolate and one in Chili & Lime Dark Chocolate. One of my very favorite things is fancy weird chocolate. I have been eating one tiny piece a day of these. They are SUPER tasty. The heat of the chili one definitely takes a minute or two to hit. Fantastic.

5. Hand painted (by Bethany!) Ceramic Bunny Bowl. Oh how much this meant to me. I think the bunny looks like my Penelope and I just heart this bowl so much. It will have a place on my dresser holding favorite pieces of jewelry.

It was just a very touching box to open and I was amazed at how much I completely adored every single item it contained. Thanks again Bethany!

Also my hair appointment is at 3:00pm today. Don’t worry, I’ll be uploading photos.

Swapalicious

Because I am just a little bit insane amidst the job changing and possible life changes KC and I are going through I decided to start another swap group on Flickr. I currently admin the group Color Me Happy Swaparooni and it’s 259 fabulous members. It’s great and I love doing it. I also don’t feel like I am doing a bad job at it either so I was inspired to start another group called Bunny Love. This will be a bunny swap group and will be much, much teenier than the other group. It currently has 9 member and you know what? If I can find just 9 other people who get as excited as I do at the prospect of getting bunny related items in the mail, that is just fine with me.

I don’t know what it is about swapping, but it is so addictive. I adore getting packages in the mail and I really love buying things for other people.

New to swapping? Here is just a basic run down of how it goes.

You join, send the admin (me!) your info (usually name, blog url, email and location) and any fees the group has (CMHS is $1 per swap and that money goes towards replacing swaps for those whose buddy didn’t hold up their end. So everyone is happy) and sign-up on the Flickr discussion.

Then you’re randomly (unless you made a request to me) partnered with someone and you have an entire month to shop for them based on their likes/dislikes and the theme. In the meantime they will be shopping for you.

By the end of the month you will have to ship the package out to them and they will ship yours to you. Then they get the gifts you have chosen for them and they’re (hopefully) very happy which makes you happy. Then you get what they got you and you are (hopefully) really happy.

Fun!

I’m afraid I’m really bad at detailing all of this so if you have any questions let me know.
